4 Ways to Social Media Success

Everyone is on social media but very few are successful. And, if they are that success is confined to one platform. I have am not one of them. I have received over 1,000 followers on multiple social media platforms. Now I want to share my knowledge with you, the reader.

Have a specific social media strategy for each platform.

Generic doesn’t work. I have used LinkedIn’s direct video upload and LinkedIn Pulse to increase my profile. I use LinkedIn’s specific feature. This means everything that I say is specific to that platform. As appealing as dropping the Facebook Live or YouTube link or your blog link, LinkedIn doesn’t prioritize this. LinkedIn’s culture is different from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. You get the point

Be genuine

Authenticity is prized. For me, I landed on LinkedIn Pulse promising no fluff and to always write about how to avoid certain situations. Be you because everyone else is taken.

Devote Time to Engage

As much as I love HootSuite, I do get on social media and type posts. I respond to comments because people are taking time out of their lives to read and react.

Create a Content Calendar

Having a content calendar creates consistency. I have to string together some cohesiveness. However, don’t feel constricted by your content calendar. You can update it at any time.

5 Steps to Creating an Organic LinkedIn Video Strategy

LinkedIn now lets users directly upload videos (up to 10 minutes) on its platform. This is great news but you must have a strategy to capitalize upon this new feature and promote your brand and business.

Here are my 5 steps towards creating an organic LinkedIn video strategy!

Decide what you want to accomplish

Do you want to land a job, land a 1099 contract, land a business deal, or keep your put position yourself as an expert in your niche. Once you answer this create a metric/key performance indicator so that you can measure the effectiveness of your goal. Remember, you can’t manage what you don’t measure.

Do a current and future projection

In business analysis, you talk about as-is and to-be analyses. As-is is where you’re at currently. To-be is where you want to be in the future. In order to achieve your goal, you have document where you’re currently are. This means being honest about your successes and failures. If you have blind spots or things that you need to work on now, document them because honesty will help you remove the ego and emotion from jotting down your future projection.

Determine which videos you want to upload

LinkedIn like every other social media platform has its own ecosystem. This means that your videos must align itself with business. I would recommend creating a separate LinkedIn Pulse blog article to accompany your standalone video. Your audience consumes content differently. The FB Live, YouTube, Periscope or Instagram Live video may not accurately communicate your strategy. Keep this in mind when you decide to repurpose your videos on LinkedIn.

Do A/B testing to evaluate your organic video’s performance

Although I do believe that LinkedIn would prioritize direct uploads over links, your video’s performance also relies on what time your audience is on LinkedIn. For instance, if the US is your market and you’re in the Eastern Time zone, then 9am, 12pm and 3pm would be peak times where people would view LinkedIn.

Create an editorial calendar

You just cannot have your video strategy dangling out there. An editorial calendar gives your strategy coherence and the ability to measure its performance. You will know how effective your video strategy, how many people are watching and at what times.
LinkedIn allowing direct video uploads is a game changer for the platform. Incorporating these five tips will help you maximize your reach in whatever goal you set.

XD30- Day 28 - Enlarging My Tent

This morning I have watched Becky A Davis’ 40 Days of Prayer for My Business http://bosspreneur.thinkific.com/courses/take/40-days-of-prayer-for-my-business . In Day 36 she preaches from the Book of Isaiah about enlarging your tent. Immediately I think about my certification since I have passed my exam this past Sunday. However, I have enlarged my territory including eBay because I have been on there for over 1 year. Hey, I can do another YouTube Live showcasing my new merchandise. It must have been serendipity because I receive a bid in my inbox. The night before I have shared my merchandise on social media and viola, a buyer.
I have spent this entire day thinking bigger. I have recorded three more videos including the new about me video for my new certification. I have to keep promoting my new certification because no one else will. I am very grateful that people in one of my LinkedIn group are liking my certification article. I truly need the support. I’ve posted my new about me video article. I have come up with a 1-minute breakdown for my new certification showcasing my service management proficiency. Right after shooting it, it clicks that I can shoot a 1-minute PMP breakdown too. I will drip these videos tomorrow and Friday. I will publish them on my blog and republish them on two different social media platforms to increase my reach. I am enlarging my tent by thinking bigger resulting in more video promotions.
I have also enlarged my tent by posting my online shop articles because I have not told anyone in over one month about my store. Well, today is high time to do so because if I am not mentioning what is in my store then no one knows about. In addition, I have done a new eBay YouTube Livestream showing my new merchandise. I have updated my inventory telling me about the sale and given them some business knowledge.

XD30 – Day 19 – New Week, New Me

I am back at it full of vim and vigor ready for this week. I created 18-20 daily tip videos to bolster my expertise. I post my first one on social media and am happy with the result. People actually miss my series. Also I have done my weekly livestream show (regardless of how tired I feel) because 1) I love it and 2) there is a void in my profession. I am glad to have kept my promise to myself to do the show because people are watching. I also upload it to my blog to generate more traffic.

XD30 – Day 18 – Content Generation

On this Father’s Day, I celebrate my Daddy and generate a whole lot of content! I have shot over 18 videos. My tip series is returning Monday and I will post a screenshot on social media promoting its return. I love creating content because I love to communicate and share what I know. That’s why I love being a blogger and doing livestream. I get to share my information and insights on topics.
I have hammered out 18-20 videos for my daily tip Instagram series. I am all about teaching people and positioning myself as the expert. I just am sick of the paralysis of analysis so I have just done filming all of my tips and converting these videos onto YouTube. I will release one a day starting tomorrow. It will also give me way more content and things to promote on my project management blog.

XD30 – Day 14 – Money in My Sock

Goodness! Here I am thinking that I have stretch my money all the way until the end of this week only to learn via voicemail that one of my parents has watched my YouTube videos and is giving me money to upgrade my ‘presence.’. Immediately I tell everyone on Facebook because my parents are 65+ and they are critiquing my YouTube videos! How many senior citizens are doing that?! Exactly! Also I check my bank balance and see that there is way more than what’s in there yesterday. I can breathe just a little (I wish I would have known a little earlier else I would not had cancelled that meeting because I thought that I was dirt poor. That’s another blog post though.). Furthermore, PayPal says that my echeck has cleared so now my other money isn’t held up. I transfer that ASAP! Today truly feels like the wheels are churning.

I am still putting a lot of new items into my eBay store to start summer off on the right note. I also want to move as much merchandise as possible. I have started doing eBay YouTube Livestreams and will do one later today because YouTube gives me another audience and storage options. I can also embed these videos online. I particularly love the screenshare feature because then all I have to do is plug in my webcam, show my eBay store and roll! I am still pushing myself to earn more money than I did yesterday!

eBay Adventure – Receiving my 14th Gold Star

I have been under the weather for the previous two days. It has been wrenched. I am just happy to have loaded up my store, done my Periscope and built rapport with people. My two packages have been shipped. When I feel better, check my eBay profile and see my 14th gold star. I am extremely grateful whenever I receive these gold stars because I am honored that they truly love my stuff (I am getting teary-eyed even typing this because I am very happy that I have a successful store. 4.5 months into this eBay adventure!). Seeing this rating reinvigorates my spirit to be better and restock my store.

eBay Adventure - Holiday Promo Prep

I registered for this Holiday webinar happening on Halloween for two reasons: 1) I knew that I would get something out of it from the teacher and 2) I had not had an eBay sale in 1 week. I needed to do something different to get a different result. It was first advertised as a lottery selection. If you reshared the coach’s Periscope and Facebook Live livestreaming content, you would enter a lottery to be picked for a free ticket. I never believed that pay thing because I was already enrolled so why would not I had been accepted. That was neither here nor there. I registered for the webinar. It was not like I was trick or treating (Sidebar : I did tell my father to go to the Heinen’s grocery store and pick more candy for the kids in the neighborhood). I might as well did some personal development plus this webinar could help my bottom line.
I attended the webinar where I learned and laughed so much throughout. The coach gave us 30 ways to make money. I started taking notes because I knew that my eBay store would benefit from this. The light bulb came on : I would put several of my Kate Spade purses up for sale. Accessories were huge! Although women may not fit a size 12 shoe or dress, every woman wore a purse. That addition expanded my target market. That meant more money and I sorely needed that. Even though the webinar ended at 11pm, immediately I started photographing my items. I uploaded 2 Stuart Weitzman sandals and 5 Kate Spade purses. I was proud to had done that all before midnight. I knew that I was ready for tomorrow and more sales.
