eBay Adventure – Wheeling and Dealing

My eBay store activity has picked after these two sales. Also, I am happy that those weird midnight requests are gone. I have noticed something new that is happening to me. I am starting to receiving offers and counteroffers. This is a new trend so I am starting to flex my counteroffer muscle. In one such case, I have a brown embossed Kate Spade purchase where someone pitches me $35 for $75. I counteroffer $45. It is fair because half of $75 is $37.50. She has not replied but I am standing in my price and fairness. Since the beginning my counteroffer policy has always been ½ of the stated price. I am not bending over that. Remember, even though I am decluttering, this is a business. As a seller, my goal is to make a profit. I always tuck that MBA in the back of mind. It is the reason why I have made over $3200 in sales in 4 ½ months.

eBay Adventure – Breaking the Ice

Immediately after relisting my items, I received a sale. It was at night and completely unexpected. I was grateful even though it was $25 because someone decided to part with her money. You had to be grateful for that especially after a 3-week layoff. I hoped that this first sale created some momentum for my store because I surely needed it (and the items were piling up. Remember, decluttering was my original reason for opening the eBay store.). I still considered uploading some of my clothes to do another go round.

Depop Diaries – My First Customer Inquiry

Okay so I have not been on Depop because I am not receiving any sales. eBay has been generating money so that’s where my attention has been; however, today, I peruse the app and notice that I receive something in my inbox. Well, what do you know? There is a question about bidding on my dress. I am willing to accept a lower rate (above 50%, of course!) with full shipping. I am very happy about this because my store is starting to make traction; and, my goal is to move as many clothes as possible. Depop is part of my decluttering process. eBay is moving my shoes at a fairly fast clip; but, I still have piles of clothes that I have not worn in a long time that I have not been able to sell on eBay. I hope that the lady returns to Depop because I am anticipating my first sale on this site.

eBay Adventure – All in the Clear

Immediately after declining the return, all of a sudden I started receiving positive business. I received my payment for two shoes, my bid cleared and I received two more bids from another potential customer. I accepted one but declined that other because business was business. Even though I was decluttering and selling my wares, I still needed to make a profit. I shipped my items priority this past Friday early in the morning. The post office said that it would arrive by Monday. Now this was the first time that I ever shipped to a post office box; but, hey, I still aimed for prompt, high-quality customer service! Besides, the customer paid for it so why not ship it the same day?! I just hoped and started working towards ensuring that I kept the momentum going because I wanted to sell as much merchandise as possible.

Depop Diaries – The Inaugural Post

This is a new diary series chronicling my decluttering effort and selling my clothes on another platform. I have learned about Depop over the weekend through Patricia Bright’s YouTube channel (She is brilliant. Here is her channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0KiGuCTrehqzSQ7ikjxSQw . Check her out!). Depop is mobile-only and I like that its format is similar to Instagram. I have done some due diligence via watching more Depop tutorial videos and visited the app (I cannot believe that some lady has the gall to post on her profile that buyers should expect cat hair on their items because she has pets. I am like what?!). Anyway, here is my store: https://www.depop.com/en-us/phenomena

eBay Adventure - Crossing the $2000 Threshold

No sooner than I upload the two $500 shoes, people start looking at them. Also eBay message decides to go down in the middle of someone offering me $300 on the spot for one of them. Why me? Why must eBay go down in the middle of a transaction?! This cannot be my life! Yes, I am decluttering but hey the money is good (nothing beats something coming in!). Once eBay comes back up, I feverishly try emailing that buyer only to realize that two buyers have already made the $500 bid. This means that I have (once again) met my $1000 weekly goal. However, this is different because I have had the courage to sell them at a higher market value. Oftentimes, I have sold below market value just to get the money but this time I have priced my two transactions fairly. Below is the screenshot showing me crossing this threshold. My biggest lesson is to sell my items at market price instead of it being a fire sale. People will pay for it.

eBay – Learning from Constructive Criticism

This one is two days late because I have become an Amazon bestseller. I am an Amazon bestseller in two categories! I have learned this on Friday. There will be another column just on this. Anyway, here is the latest eBay installment.
I awoke Friday morning to a new order. I truly needed that because I had not made a sale since the Fourth of July. Also I accepted pending offer shipping out three orders. I made some income on Friday. Also I received a message from an international buyer criticizing that I shipped my merchandise in a too big box and that there should had been some paper in it. There was a lot of shifting around from the United States to Europe. Okay, initially I felt bad but hey, this was my first international shipping. When you knew better, you did better. I would incorporate this feedback into other international shipping.
I did not make my $1000/week financial goal but this week would be different. My Nine West shoes were selling so now I will resell them along with my regular shoes. In addition, I will add new Stuart Weitzman pumps to my store. Currently, there are only 4 items selling. By the end of Sunday, I will have around 15 items on sale. Now, it I could only had gotten my clothes to sell better.

This eBay was a closet decluttering process. I had to let go of some many shoes that I was attached but I had to because I had not worn them in over two years. I will price them appropriately and let them go. Furthermore, I have been looking at the Let go app. I reviewed Poshmark but there were too many con artists and snooty customers giving bad reviews.

Veracity

Veracity (noun):
Full Definition of VERACITY
1
:  devotion to the truth :  truthfulness
2
:  power of conveying or perceiving truth
3
:  conformity with truth or fact :  accuracy
4
:  something true

The word of the week is veracity. Although I practice internal honesty every day, with 2016 being less than 45 days away, I need to be more honest. I need to declutter letting things, ideas and people who don’t serve me. I need to drop things that hold me back from my greatness. I must do it now and not want until New Year’s Eve because those evil spirits will weigh me down.
